The WESTINGHOUSE 1C31147G01 pulse accumulator module is used in OVATION DCS systems.
In principle, many flow meters, energy meters, and speed sensors output pulse signals, with each pulse representing a fixed quantity.
Functionally, it continuously monitors input channels, counts received pulses, and accumulates the count value into an internal register, forming a continuously growing total.
In addition, to avoid errors, compared to calculating cumulative values from analog signals, pulse accumulation directly counts digital pulses, making it unaffected by signal attenuation, noise interference, and A/D conversion errors. It can detect very fast pulse trains.
Modules typically provide multiple independent pulse input channels, allowing simultaneous monitoring of multiple flow meters or instruments. Simply put, each channel can be configured and processed independently.
