The S800 I/O is a comprehensive, distributed, modular process I/O system that communicates with higher-level controllers and PLCs via industry-standard fieldbuses. The TB840 ModuleBus modem is a fiber-optic interface for the optical ModuleBus. The TB840A is designed for redundant configurations, where each module is connected to a different optical ModuleBus line but to the same electrical ModuleBus.
The ModuleBus modem features both electrical and optical ModuleBus interfaces, which logically represent the same bus. The electrical ModuleBus can connect up to 12 I/O modules, while the optical ModuleBus can connect up to 7 clusters. The optical interface is suitable for local distribution of I/O clusters and when more than 12 I/O modules are required in an I/O station.
